Chronic Diseases Research Center

Message from the Head of the Chronic Diseases Research Center

The Chronic Diseases Research Center is one of the centers affiliated with the Population Studies Institute at the Research Institute for Endocrinology and Metabolism, which began its activities in 2012. This center was established with the aim of research, innovation, and utilizing technology in the prevention and treatment of chronic and incurable diseases, which include a range of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Communicable diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, metabolic disorders, cancers, and neurological and muscular disorders are among the leading causes of death and disability in both developed and developing countries, including Iran.

Furthermore, these diseases have been on the rise in many countries, imposing a heavy financial burden on society and healthcare systems. The center aims to collaborate both domestically and internationally to develop innovative methods in the diagnosis, control, and treatment of these diseases, as well as effective community-based interventions in screening and disease detection. Additionally, providing the necessary evidence to support policy-making and decision-making for health managers and policymakers at both national and international levels is another key approach of this center.
