Trigonelline is an NAD+ precursor that improves muscle function during ageing and is reduced in human sarcopenia
Mitochondrial dysfunction and low nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels are hallmarks of skeletal muscle ageing and sarcopenia but it is unclear whether these defects result from local changes or can be mediated by systemic or dietary cues. Here we report a functional link between circulating levels of the natural alkaloid trigonelline, which is structurally related to nicotinic acid NAD+ levels and muscle health in multiple species.
Association between junk food consumption and mental health problems in adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Anxiety and depression can seriously undermine mental health and quality of life globally. The consumption of junk foods, including ultra-processed foods, fast foods, unhealthy snacks, and sugar-sweetened beverages, has been linked to mental health. The aim of this study is to use the published literature to evaluate how junk food consumption may be associated with mental health disorders in adults.
Overlap between Osteosarcopenia and Frailty and their Association with Poor Health Conditions: The Bushehr Elderly Health Program
The aim of this study was to investigate the association of osteosarcopenia with frailty and poor health conditions among older Iranian adults.
Economic burden of sarcopenia-related disability in the elderly population: a study in Iran
Sarcopenia is linked to escalating health costs, heightened risk of physical disability, diminished quality of life and an increased demand for care services. This study aimed to assess the economic impact of sarcopenia-related disability in Iran.
Associations between dietary total antioxidant capacity and sarcopenia: a cross-sectional study
No study has investigated the relationship between dietary total antioxidant capacity and sarcopenia so far.
Socioeconomic inequalities in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a study based on a population-based survey in Iran
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most prevalent form of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), with social and economic determinants significantly influencing its prevalence. This study aimed to analyze the socioeconomic inequalities associated with T2DM in Iran.
Efficacy, safety, and tolerability of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors in controlling ADHD symptoms: a systematic review and meta-analysis
The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) in managing ADHD symptoms compared to placebo, stimulants, or compared as pre- and post-treatment.
Are there links between Alzheimer's disease and ADHD? The efficacy of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists in controlling ADHD symptoms: a systematic review
To assess the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of anti-Alzheimer agents (memantine, galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil) in controlling ADHD symptoms in children, adolescents, and adults.
An overview on the treatments and prevention against COVID-19
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) continues to plague the world. While COVID-19 is asymptomatic in most individuals, it can cause symptoms like pneumonia, ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), and death in others.
Relationship between healthy eating index and sarcopenia in elderly people
Data on the association of Alternative Healthy Eating Index-2010 (AHEI-2010) with sarcopenia are scarce. We aimed to evaluate the association between adherence to AHEI-2010 and sarcopenia and its components including low muscle mass, low muscle strength, and low muscle performance among elderly people.
